About Les Amants du Pont-Neuf
Leos Carax’s Les Amants du Pont-Neuf (The Lovers on the Bridge) is a sweeping film about two lost souls who find each other at the edge of the city. On the scaffolded Pont-Neuf, homeless fire-eater Alex (Denis Lavant) and Michèle (Juliette Binoche), a painter slowly losing her sight, become entangled in a relationship both tender and destructive. Carax transforms Paris into a fever dream of fireworks, water, endless nights and restless bodies. Grand, fragile and unrestrained, Les Amants du Pont-Neuf remains one of modern French cinema’s most delirious romances.
